A Remote Sensing Revolution in Roman Archaeology

In the past few years the application of remote sensing technology has generated a wealth of new evidence that is changing our understanding of the Roman world. Methods of aerial and terrestrial remote sensing have increasingly been applied in archaeology adding both to knowledge of previously known sites and the discovery of hitherto undiscovered landscapes. This talk will present two contrasting studies to illustrate the potential of these methods: one of the rural landscape in northern England, the other of urban centres in Central Italy.

Professor Martin Millett is Emeritus Professor of Classical Archaeology at University of Cambridge


The cost of attendance is CHF70 per person to include aperos and drinks

1. Le citron En tartelette crémeuse et meringue italienne, Boule de glace framboise et éclats de pistache 

Ou 2. Le chocolat Comme un moelleux et son insert framboise, Nougatine et boule de glace vanille bourbon

How to get there:

The restaurant is at Port Choiseul, Versoix, overlooking the lake by the beach.

Public transport to Pont Ceard Station is within the TPG reseau and so CHF3 for an adult, using any bus or train.  The Leman Express runs every 15 minutes, journey 17 minutes from Cornevin, and the walk from the station about 10 minutes.

There is plenty of car parking in the road leading to the restaurant (Chemin des Graviers) free after 19h and with a minimal charge if arriving earlier.
