We are delighted to invite you to one of our most cherished traditions, the Freshers’ Welcome, an annual gathering that celebrates the students preparing to matriculate at Oxford and Cambridge in 2025 and brings together alumni, current members, and new joiners of the Oxford and Cambridge Club of Geneva.
Date: Wednesday, 17 September 2025
Time: 18:00–20:30
Venue: ByLuigia
We are honoured to welcome Ambassador David Riley OBE, United Kingdom Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva, as our keynote speaker. Appointed in 2024, Ambassador Riley brings extensive experience from Washington, the UK Missions to the United Nations in Geneva and New York, and senior policy roles in London. His insights, at the nexus of diplomacy, multilateral engagement, and international security, will provide our Freshers with a timely perspective on how graduates of leading UK universities, including Oxford and Cambridge alumni, continue to shape global affairs.
Ambassador Riley will deliver keynote remarks during the welcome portion of the evening, offering reflections on diplomacy and multilateralism today, insights from his distinguished career, and words of encouragement for the incoming Oxbridge cohort.
The programme will also include a welcome address from the Club, followed by an informal reception with gourmet Italian finger food and drinks in a convivial setting designed for conversation and community-building. It will be a chance for newcomers to learn from alumni, and for alumni to reconnect while welcoming the next generation into our shared tradition.
As a special gesture, new joiners will enjoy an exclusive discounted ticket price of CHF 15 for the first 15 subscribers.
Your participation keeps alive the club’s 75-year tradition in Geneva. Whether reconnecting with old friends or welcoming our Freshers, this will be a memorable evening for all.
