Join us for a moonlit snow walk (date chosen to be just before the full moon, for best effect!) followed by mountain chalet dinner on Saturday, 28th February 2026, hosted by Peter Ransome. A scenic winter walk to Restaurant Cuvaloup de Crans, where we’ll enjoy a warm and hearty meal in a cozy alpine setting.

Event Details

Date: Saturday, 28th February 2026. Time: 18:30

Meeting Point: La Givrine – Big car park on the right side of the road, 200 metres past La Givrine railway station (Meet at the far end of the first car park, next to the payment station.)

Walk

Duration: Approximately 60 minutes each way (depending on weather conditions)

Total Distance: Approx. 5 km (or less in stormy weather).

Elevation Gain: 90m Maximum Participants: 20

Logistics & Transportation (subject to CFF timings)

By Train: The train departing Nyon at 17:29, platform 22 arrives at La Givrine at 18:12 (this is a request stop – remember to ring the bell).

Return Transport: The last train from La Givrine departs at 21:57, which is likely to be too early. If you come by train, we will ask for volunteer drivers to offer a ride back to Nyon.

Parking: Free after 18:00.

What to Expect

Peter will choose a suitable route based on the weather conditions:

Normal conditions: Up to 1 hour walk each way. Stormy: A shorter 30-minute each way.

Note: The restaurant is not accessible by car.

The walk will take place in all weather conditions, so please dress appropriately!

What to Bring

Footwear: Sturdy boots with good grip. Crampons (recommended) and poles in case of ice.

Clothing: Dress in warm layers, including a waterproof outer layer, a hat, and gloves.

Torch: Essential for visibility. Snowshoes are NOT necessary and NOT recommended.

Dinner at Cuvaloup de Crans

A CHF 20 deposit per person is required by the restaurant, which the club will advance on your behalf. No-shows must reimburse the club.
